Set the alarm for 7am so Wayne could go for a run. There is a park across the street and he ran laps around it. We left the B&B shortly after 8am so we could get something to eat. Went back to Roscioli's and had coffee and bread.
Headed to the Termini to catch the 9:13am train to Orvieto. We bought our tickets but then we were not sure which train we needed to get on. The sign said track 2E but we could only find track 2. By this time it was now almost 9:05am and we finally found someone to ask. He said where we had to go and that we had to run fast to catch the train. So run we did. We got to the train and Wayne validated the tickets one minute before the train left.
Arrived in Orvieto at 10:30am and then took the Funicular up to the town.
Orvieto is a wonderful hilltop town. We walked around for an hour and then sat at a cafe near the Duomo and shared a large beer and bread.
We walked to a look off area with wonderful views of the Umbrian countryside.
Walked around the town and then found a cafe for lunch.
Great food, beer and wine. After we ate it was time for us to head down to catch the 3:24pm train back to Rome. We had a few minutes to wait so we got a gelato.
Back in Rome by 5:45pm and we headed back to the B&B to rest for a while.
We went out for dinner around 7:30pm and stopped at a pizzeria for a mushroom pizza (yummy).
Then walked around before stopping for another gelato this time at the oldest gelato place in Rome which happens to be just down the street from where we are staying. It is called Palazzo del Freddo and it was very busy. The gelato (we both had coffee and chocolate) was delicious!
Back to the B&B by 9:30pm
Tomorrow - our last day in Rome.
