I booked my only ship tour of this cruise for today. It wasn't until 12:45pm so I didn't get up until 8:30am. Got a coffee and went out and took some photos. This is one of the most scenic ports I have ever been to. I think it is just beautiful!
Walked around taking photos for a while and then stopped at a little store for a bottle of Evian water (when in France...) and a bakery for a chocolate croissant. Sat on the waterfront in the sun and ate my little French lunch. It was the best croissant I have ever had and worth every one of the calories!
More walking until it was time to get on the tour bus.
I am not a fan of the big tour buses but I really wanted to go to Saint Paul de Vence which is a hill top medieval town outside of Nice.
First we toured Nice and then had 2 hours to walk around Saint Paul. It is a lovely little town full of artists' shops and galleries. Lots of very narrow cobblestone streets and no cars are allowed inside the town walls except for parking for the locals. It was a wonderful afternoon!
We got back to Villefranche at 5:30pm and took the tender back to the ship. I was back on board by 6pm (last tender was 7:15pm).
You guessed it; up to the buffet for dinner.
It will be an early night tonight because I have organized a shuttle van to Florence and it leaves at 7:30am
Today I was in the heart of the French Riviera/Cote d'Azur and in Provence. Tomorrow I will be in Tuscany!
