We docked around 4am and people started getting off by 6:30am.
I had a quiet morning. Grabbed a coffee and wandered the Promenade. Said good bye to new friends I met while on board. Sat and watched as the ship emptied.
At 10:00am they announced for all us consecutive cruisers to meet in the main lounge. And we waited... after 35 minutes people started to leave since no one had come in to tell us anything. We left too a few minutes later. Then another announcement telling us to head to the gangway. We all swiped our cards and off the ship we got. Walked along the side of the ship and were told to stop and wait. A few minutes later they directed us into a tent like building and we waited... Nobody told us what to do. It was very poorly organized. Finally as we watched other people getting on the ship, a man at the front of the line exited the tent and then came back in and they let him on the ship. So everybody in line did the same. We were back on in minutes. I talked to one man who has done many back to back cruises and he said this was the worst he has ever seen.
It was nice to be back on the ship!
I went up to see if my cabin was ready and it was so I unpacked and settled in.
At noon there was a special lunch held for all us consecutive cruisers with free wine! I sat with Jo & Ian and Greg, Cyn and Sarah (and 5 others who I didn't know). My trivia gang sang Happy Birthday to me at the beginning of lunch and then the waiters brought me dessert with a candle in it and sang to me too.
He checked in and then we boarded the ship. I took him on a quick tour on the way to the cabin so he could dropped off his carry on bag. Then I showed him around "my" ship :)
At 4:30pm there was a cruise critic sail away party up at the Sky Bar so we sat up there and had a sail away drink.
We had dinner reservations for 7pm at the Italian Restaurant (pay) with my trivia gang - Jo & Ian and Greg, Cyn and Sarah.
The food is served family style which means lots of food. First we had the appetizers. We ordered a few different ones which were shared in the middle of the table. Then the pasta course which again was shared. (I loved the crab ravioli!) Then the main course which we chose to be served individually. I had the Garlic Jumbo Shrimp and Wayne had the Filet Mignon. For dessert they brought out the dessert tray full of wonderful Italian desserts. Wayne and I shared 2 different kinds of Cannoli and we each had a bit of Tiramisu. Then the wait staff brought out a small piece of cake with Happy Anniversary beautifully written on the plate for Greg and Cyn who were celebrating their 30th anniversary (May 15) and then they brought out a plate for me.
It was a wonderful evening and a great 50th birthday!
Tomorrow - Messina, Sicily, Italy
